Tax Analyst (2000030) – Beachwood, OH
Where the Chemistry Happens
The Tax Analyst is responsible for the tax operations for BASF Construction Chemicals U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Responsibilities include coordination of income, franchise, sales & use, gross receipts, withholding, VAT and property tax filings, payments, accounting and audits. Additionally, the Tax Analyst will work closely with management to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and that an appropriate control environment is maintained.
Formula for Success
Corporate Tax Analyst
Work directly with and maintain relationship with external tax advisor
Coordinate federal, state local income and franchise tax return and estimated payment compliance
Coordinate sales and use, VAT, gross receipts, and withholding tax return compliance
Prepare and manage timely filing and compliance of property and real estate tax return requirements
Assist with all aspects of tax auditor inquires
Develop and maintain tax minimization environment through lawful tax avoidance methods (exemptions, credits, abatements, etc.)
Maintain system supported tax basis accounting for deferred tax calculations and accounting
Maintain proper documentation to support transfer pricing policy and control environment
Research tax issues as necessary
Maintain company IT solutions for sales & use and property tax
Must have at least 5 years of progressive tax experience in a multi-national corporation
Bachelors Degree is required. Degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred. CPA, MBA and/or CTP designations a plus
Must have strong Excel skills
Must have knowledge of basic Accounting Principles
Ability to meet deadlines and deal effectively with auditors
Ability to think analytically, and to provide in-depth analysis and recommendations using critical thinking and sound judgment
Effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with all levels both as a self-starter and in a team environment
Ability to plan, organize and lead the work with minimal supervision
Experience implementing common processes and practices across a diverse structure
Experience with SAP, Vertex and PTMS desirable
