Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the management for small to medium Beaumont site projects from idea (charter) through execution. You will typically manage non-Commission S projects, support Commission S projects, and include all ORBE risk levels.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your educational background in an Engineering discipline (preferably Chemical Engineering), as well as your extensive professional project engineering and management experience, you will monitor and support construction activities to ensure that projects are completed according to the design deliverables, quality standards, and plant requirements, and that pre-startup safety reviews are conducted.

  • Demonstrating your strong organizational skills, you will develop project scopes, generate and/or obtain cost estimates, and prepare project objective memos (POM’s) to obtain necessary funding authorizations. You will utilize applicable value-improving practices (VIP’s) to optimize project scope and costs.

  • Your unwavering commitment to workplace health and safety will be evident as you seek compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution. You will also ensure that appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before and after approval.

  • Successfully engaging within and outside the organization, you will request and coordinate required process and design engineering and design resources, whether from the Unit or Site Engineering groups or outside vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and to procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.

  • Your thorough decision-making ability will be necessary as you adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.

  • Applying your ability to multi-task, you will maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

  • You will also use these skills as you request necessary construction and commissioning resources from maintenance, contractors, construction and others as required to install the scope of work.

  • Your keen attention to detail and ability to follow through will be essential as you ensure that Production achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-related action items are completed. You will also ensure that projects are closed per guidelines and ensure proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements.

  • Being results oriented, you will promote identification of lessons learned from completed projects to improve work practices.

  • Your strong verbal and written communication skills will serve you well as you participate and contribute on teams or via ad hoc assignments with other site and NA Engineers to review, update, and develop project management procedures, guidelines, standards, and practices. Centers of Expertise (CoE’s), peer working teams, and sharing lessons learned from completed projects to improve work practices are examples.

  • Relying on your business acumen, you will assist in managing CapEx plan development and budget.

  • Your strong leadership will be a valued asset as you mentor new area project managers.
