Canola Crop Manager (CP) - (1900904)

Where the Chemistry Happens

The Canola Crop Manager is focused on developing portfolio strategies (short to long-term) for the Canadian Canola Crop Protection (CP) market. Incumbent will collaborate with the Canola Seed Crop Manager to jointly develop the combined Canola Crop Strategy for Canada. These strategies focus on optimizing profitability for BASF, identify growth opportunities and providing customer needs-based solutions.

  • Lead the development of a cross crop protection portfolio plan related to licensing

negotiations and supply agreements for Canada, as well as the life cycle

management responsibility (long range plan and post patent strategies) for

Canola, and the Indications (H, F, I, ST) as well as collaborate with the Canola

  • Provide input and leadership for the Canola Market on commercial issues such

as market letters, incentive programming and overall market strategies related to

CP

  • Coordination of Canola crop plans and mentoring of the Canola Brand Managers

(ie. Herbicide and Fungicide brand managers, as well as collaborate with the

seed brand managers); Provide leadership and management to Canola CP Brand

Managers

  • Co-Lead together with the Canola Seed Crop Manager, the Canola crop team to

develop an annual crop solution plan based on confirmed grower needs/trends

utilizing advice, services and products to achieve an annual POG budget while

effectively directing an annual associated ASP budget for content creation

  • Lead competitive insights related to Canola and execute together with Technical

Services Team on competitive positioning

  • Collaborate with the Canola Seed Crop Manager to jointly Develop the joint CP

and Seeds Strategy Plan that drives 10Y planning and resources, link to and

supervise Canola Crop/Indication Plans

  • Manage profitability of the Canadian Canola CP portfolio through market mix,

lifecycle management and accurate financial planning

  • Represent Canada on Global/Regional PLE (Product Launch Excellence;

Operational Readiness and/or Business Core) Teams to provide leadership and

direction for Canola to Field Biology, Regulatory, Operations, Finance and BASF

Management up to 3y prior to launch for CP.

  • Champion the Canadian Canola crop team to provide leadership and direction to

Field Biology, Regulatory, Operations, Finance and BASF Management as it

pertains to optimizing market opportunities for current and future CP portfolio

  • Provide support to market program development for CP and participate on Head

Office account customer strategies. Jointly collaborate in the development of

Canola seed market program development.

  • Gain competitive insights and incorporate that information to help shape current

and future CP strategy

  • Interact with regional marketing to generate support and provide project

justification as appropriate to meet long range market objectives and support

current and future CP product offers

  • Coordinate and manage relationships with strategic National organizations and

associations essential to achieving Canola objectives

Formula for Success

  • BSc Degree is required. Master’s degree in business is preferred

  • Minimum 8 years in a related role

  • Minimum 8 years in a brand or crop equivalent management responsibility, preferably within the agricultural industry

  • High level of technical, financial, and marketing comprehension for assigned indications and portfolio, competitive products, and overall assigned market

  • Must have demonstrated initiative and ability to reach set objectives in past job roles

  • Must possess strong analytical skills, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, excellent strategic and critical thinking

  • Proven management and leadership skills

  • Sound understanding of marketing, sales and accounting principles

  • Sound understanding of high-level agronomy, growers and distributors for the crop protection industry related to Canola
