Intellectual Property & Stewardship Brand Manager - (1900919)

Where the Chemistry Happens

The primary focus in this position will be to support intellectual property (IP) management for InVigor canola and the Clearfield business. This will involve working with the IP manager to develop the new platform and implement the new process with stakeholders. The role will involve establishing a working relationship with seed partners, managing the IP process, support and implement auditing and enforcement, develop brand plan strategies by crop and support the overall crop Solution development. The position will require an ability to influence and interact with internal / external partners, the Marketing, Customer Solutions, Sales, and Legal groups as well as BASF Strategic Agency Partners.

  • Develop & execute annual campaign plans that support IP management and

stewardship for InVigor canola, Clearfield lentils and Clearfield wheat to

contribute to relevant Crop Solution Plans

  • Manage seed partner relationships to ensure alignment on seed variety LCM

and new distribution model to support sales and promotion activities and the

IP management process; Negotiate new agreements with new lentil seed

partners and breeding partner

  • Manage data program management for the Liberty link soybean platform for

Pride seeds and Winfield

  • Work with IP Management team/recon team to ensure system alignment across the 2 HT platforms to support ongoing data management, continuity of care regarding auditing / enforcement and proper data reconciliation

  • Manage Intellectual Property management process – maintenance of

agreements and process at the seed partner, channel and grower level.

  • Oversee the continued implementation of the Evergreen Clearfield

commitment process with sales staff, retails, seed growers/seed partners

seed labs and coordinate with IP Manager to implement auditing and

enforcement process

  • Develop a plan to establish a new framework to launch a new Clearfield trait

stack and implement a trait fee in lentils for the new platform. Support the

business team to launch hybrid wheat to ensure a robust IP framework can

be established to support the commercial launch

Formula for Success

Education

  • BSc is required. Master’s degree in Business is preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years in a related role

  • High level of technical, financial, and marketing comprehension for assigned portfolio, competitive products, and overall assigned market

Knowledge/Skills

  • Must have demonstrated initiative and ability to reach set objectives in past job roles

  • Must possess strong analytical skills, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, excellent strategic and critical thinking

  • Proven management and leadership skills within the IP realm

  • Sound agronomic skills relative to seed and awareness of importance of seed and understanding of seed companies business.
