Technical Service Manager, Pharma Solutions NA (2002567) – West Coast U.S.
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to develop and drive the regional strategy for technical service and customer support. You will develop research-based technical concepts and create unique value propositions for the target market area. Further, you will motivate and train sales and marketing team members to achieve or exceed targets, maintain relationships with customers and universities to promote BASF products and assist in developing global R & D goals. You will also be responsible for identifying unrealized customer potential in terms of quality and application of pharma solutions products.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your strong technical presentation skills, the ability to work independently, demonstrate leadership skills, and be an effective team player.
There will be a travel requirement within North America, estimated at minimum of 40%.

You will manage and conduct regional (West Coast - United States) customer and application dialogues to understand needs from a technical perspective, leading regional seminars/workshops and trainings with customers (including our distributors) to disseminate technical expertise and support sales efforts. Bilingual English/Spanish abilities will be considered a plus. In- depth technical knowledge of the BASF Pharma portfolio is a big plus.
Your solid technical knowledge will serve as a platform to convey regional technical key selling arguments ('unique value proposition' (UVP)) of our products. You will also apply this knowledge as you participate in regional technical conferences to share & gather technical expertise and look for innovation potential.
Based on customer needs, you will recommend development of meaningful technical product promotion literature in coordination with the global communication team and the global technical marketing team. Additionally, you will support field sales with technical product information, application methods, and customer complaint resolution.
Your strong analytical skills will help identify regional gaps between customer needs and competitors' products to differentiate BASF-products and look for innovations.
You will identify and assess new products from competitors improving regional market intelligence from a technical perspective.
Solid project management abilities will serve you well as you run flawless regional product launches in line with global expectations.
Relationship building will be essential as you develop necessary contacts with counterparts within the industry, government agencies, and academic institutions involved with product marketing, regulatory, application, innovation, new product development, and technical research.
Ensuring compliance with all BASF policies and governmental regulations in the area of Safety, Ecology and Eco Efficiency, Sustainability, and Traceability, as well as regulatory compliance of the BASF Pharma Solutions portfolio in North America.
As the regional technical expert, you will communicate effectively, not only within North America but also with global colleagues including Technical Services laboratories, Technical Marketing and Strategic Marketing to help drive the new strategic direction for BASF’s pharmaceutical business.
