Scientist II (2103201) – RTP, NC

Where the Chemistry Happens

This individual will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary analytics team to support agricultural product characterization studies. With a focus on registration analytics, this individual will work under moderate supervision and perform analytical testing, data compilation, peer review, and issuing final reports under Global Product Chemistry. Must have general safety laboratory experience as well as chemical/physical characterization experience including sample preparation, chromatographic analysis, and data acquisition/interpretation using chromatography software. In addition, the role includes administrative support for GLP tasks such as archiving, standard inventory management, external study coordination, and following and maintaining GLP SOP’s. The qualifying individual will be required to understand organizational functions and processes, and interface with multiple units such as the global product chemistry team, regulatory managers, quality assurance unit, and sample logistics departments. As a result, exemplary communication and inter-personal skills are required.

Formula for Success

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field with 3-5 years of industry experience in analytical chemistry

  • Experience in chromatographic and quantitative analysis (HPLC & GC) of active ingredients and products

  • Wet chemistry and physical analysis methods (DSC, TGA, viscosity, calorimetry) for product performance testing.

  • Familiarity with GLP documentation processes and working within a regulated environment.

  • Serious safety focus, in laboratory and office setting.

  • Attention to detail, problem solving, and decision-making skills for project initiation through to completion.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of EPA regulatory requirements (ie: FIFRA,TSCA, OCSPP 830 and 835 series).

  • Familiarity with global physical/chemical test guidelines (OECD, CIPAC methods, etc)

  • Experience with Agilent OpenLab software
