Professional Development Program (PDP) – Mechanical Engineering Class of 2019

Where the Chemistry Happens…

From designing to running a major production facility - the field of engineering and production at BASF is where true professionals with excellent technical and scientific expertise can apply their knowledge in challenging environments. Especially when it comes to plant engineering and construction on the large scale, many challenges have to be overcome. Always in focus: securing our leading position in the industry while holding fast to our high safety and environmental standards.

Program Summary:


  • As a highly motivated rising graduate, you will participate in a 24-month cross-functional program with three, eight-month rotations in various technical areas, including: Manufacturing/Operations, Corporate Engineering, Ecology and Safety, Maintenance, and Research and Development (R&D)

  • Your ability to be mobile will be critical, as this program is comprised of three, eight-month assignments, all based in separate locations throughout the U.S.

  • Successfully engaging across the business, you will be exposed to the technical and scientific aspects of plant engineering, while also working in areas of safety and environmental conscious to uphold our high standards

  • Upon your completion of the program, you may be offered direct placement within the organization in a variety of disciplines in engineering and production

  • Potential start dates are March, July, and September of 2019

Formula for Success:

  • Upcoming graduates receiving a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering between December 2018 – August 2019

  • Demonstrated academic achievement (minimum GPA 3.2)

  • Commitment to relocate anywhere in the U.S.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or future sponsorship

  • Leadership potential

  • Active participation in extra-curricular activities and on-campus organizations

  • Bilingual is a plus

  • Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus
