Process Laboratory Manager (1804871) – Freeport, TX

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to support the Global Hygiene Products Development for screening tests and scale-up evaluations. In this role, you will support global innovation projects of significant importance and complexity commonly related to superabsorbent polymers, their application, and process technologies. You will report functionally to the global head of kneader development in Ludwigshafen, Germany and align the testing plan and the priorities according to the available resources and capabilities with the global development team. You will lead and document the research and development activities of polymerization and processing studies of superabsorbent polymers and provide leadership and instruction to research staff and project team members. In a team-based environment, you will support the entire process sequence from idea development to new product/process launch and exchange of achieved results globally.

Formula for Success

· Leveraging your education in a scientific discipline combined with your experience in a chemical manufacturing and/or laboratory setting, you will generate intellectual property for BASF through process innovations.

· Demonstrating your passion for innovation, you will review technical journals and patent literature.

· As a leader , you will supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate laboratory staff.

  • Successfully engaging across the business, you will support and align with global development unit via screening and scale up trials.

· Your ability to work with others will be crucial as you participate in Project Safety Reviews (Step Reviews) and Process Hazard Analysis as necessary. You will also be called upon to support other business functions as needed.

· Your commitment to compliance will be a valued asset as you will be accountable for processes defined in the business unit’s matrix and global documentation systems (e.g. reports).

· Your strong organizational skills will be essential as you manage new chemical/raw material qualifications and coordinate registrations.
