Mechanical Design Engineer – Geismar, LA
We are looking for a candidate like you to provide mechanical engineering leadership on all phases of capital and expense projects including, but not limited to, scope development, cost estimating, specification and procurement of rotating and static equipment, quality assurance, and technical support for startup and commissioning. You will collaborate with a team of internal and external partners to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects. As a subject matter expert, we are relying on you to provide mechanical leadership to our team of piping designers.
Formula for Success
Leveraging your strong educational and professional background in Mechanical Engineering, you will provide engineering expertise and leadership in the specification, design, requisition, and installation of new piping, vessels, and machinery in accordance with plant design requirements, BASF standards, and regulatory requirements.
Your extensive knowledge of vessel, piping, and machinery will be essential as you solicit vendor inquiries, prepare bid tabulations, and collaborate with external suppliers and fabricators.
Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be essential as you perform pressure vessel modifications and rerates, evaluate nozzle loads, and complete piping flexibility reviews in accordance with industry codes and BASF standards.
Your flexibility and agility will be an asset as you manage multiple projects, initiatives, and commitments simultaneously.
Successfully engaging across the organization, you will collaborate with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and external engineering firms.
Your ability to make crucial business decisions will be valued as you will identify areas of cost reduction, develop safe effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
Your solid attention to detail and organization skills will be important as you develop/monitor mechanical cost estimates, manpower forecasts/tracking, schedule and budget metrics, and provide responsive and effective communications regarding your project activities.
