Where the Chemistry Happens…
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, supervises work activities of assigned Daily Operations Team (DOT) personnel engaged in operating the plant(s) within the cluster safely and reliably to produce products. Primary focus of the supervisor is to maintain a safe and reliable plant and to develop the Operators that work in the cluster.
Primary Responsibilities’ include:
Executes daily operating plans in conjunctionunder the supervision of the Production Supervisor.
Directs equipment and process adjustmentsbased on previous shift activities, review of operator's and supervisor'slogs, physical survey, and laboratory test results, and records allproduction and operational data in logs provided
Supervises work activities on Daily OperationsTeam shift personnel, to include BASF direct and contractor, engaged inoperating equipment and processes (i.e. chemical reactors, compression,distillation, filtration, absorption, etc.) using materials which areflammable, corrosive, hazardous, and toxic in nature to product products
Responsible for working with Daily SupportTeam in priority setting and equipment repairs; and for timeliness ofequipment preparation for maintenance
Directs Daily Operations Team personnel inobservance of safe practices, labor relations, and good housekeeping,taking necessary corrective steps and instructing personnel as required
Directs activities of Daily Operations Teampersonnel in event of fires, explosion, and any other emergency in theplant until relieved
Instructs and trains new operators and keepsthe Shifts up to date on Management of Change issues and SOP revisions andrequired regulatory training
Follows BASF's EEO and Affirmative Actionpolicies and promotes their observance in performance of job duties
Provides coaching/feedback to Daily OperationsTeam operators in the form of Performance Evaluations.
Direct/Supervise operations, shutdowns, andstart-ups to prevent damage to equipment due to potentiallyflammable/toxic material
Coordinates all repairs and equipmentchangeovers with Daily Support Team to minimize damage and costly repairs
Responsible for the safety of all DailyOperations Team members under area of supervision. All safety rules andregulations must be strictly enforced. Leads and documents AccidentInvestigations for injuries, near misses and spills that occur on shift.

Minimum of five (5) years experience in operations of a chemical plant with intimate knowledge of departmental functions and plant operations.
2 years supervisory or equivalent experience preferred.
Strong Leadership Skills required to direct Operators to produce quality chemicals in a safe and cost effective manner.
Strong Coaching Skills required to develop Operators in the understanding of the chemical plant operation and to grow their understanding of technical and business issues.
Strong interpersonal skills are required to interface with Daily Operations Team (DOT), Daily Support Team (DST), Technical Engineering Services Team (TES), Lab, Technology Group, contractors, and outside vendors.
Strong technical problem solving skills to help in the resolution of problems in the different manufacturing areas that effect plant performance.
Board experience strongly preferred
This position requires all candidates to either currently opssess or botain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker IDentification Credential) Card from the Un. S. Department of Homeland Security.
