Account Manager, Industrial Petrochemicals (1805038) – Houston, TX (Remote)

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the sale of acrylic monomers, oxo alcohols, and plasticizers in the Southwest and Western US region. In this role, you will manage several key accounts in the Houston and Dallas areas for all three businesses, as well as several plasticizer customers on the West Coast. You will work with global colleagues on global key accounts for the acrylic monomers business. Working in conjunction with Marketing and Sales Management, you will also be responsible for meeting or exceeding established targets for sales volume and contribution margin. Primary accounts in this territory are located in Southwestern and Western states, specifically TX, LA, OK, AZ, CA, WA, and OR.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Business or a related field and your professional selling experience (preferably within the chemical industry), you will be responsible for existing account maintenance for assigned acrylic monomer, oxo alcohol, and plasticizer customers.

  • Your demonstrated ability to employ superior communication, interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills will be a valued asset as you develop new acrylic monomer, oxo alcohol and plasticizer business at accounts in the assigned territory.

  • Demonstrating your proven ability to identify business opportunities and develop appropriate strategies and relationships that deliver commercial results, you will c reate and implement key account plans and account strategies in conjunction with Marketing.

  • Successfully engaging inside and outside the organization you will work to further implement BASF’s NA 2025 strategy – Customers First / Winning Together – and relevant Business Area Strategies.

  • Your ability to conduct market analysis will be vital as you increase market intelligence of the business by bringing information about customers, markets, competitors, and industries back into the organization.

  • Your robust negotiation skills will be essential as you negotiate contracts with key customers in cooperation with Marketing, Legal and Sales Management and engage in price negotiations with all customers in the assigned territory.

  • Utilizing your strong commercial and financial acumen, you will provide Call reports, account plan maintenance, monthly forecasting, and reporting of market intelligence, etc.
