Technology Manager - Americas ( 1802855 ) – Houston, TX
As the Technology Manager, you will identify business opportunities and convert them into business through technical dialogue with customers and selling value of BASF technology. You will be the point of contact and support for all technical aspects regarding products and applications for Nickel and precious metal fixed bed catalysts for the Americas sales team. Additionally, you will develop performance warranty offers, including price proposals.
This role has a regional responsibility and functionally reports into the Business team (CCP/KH). You will have a high level of autonomy and decision making responsibility with regard to all technical matters/responsibilities (customer consultations/recommendations, product choice, technical performance warranty, etc.). Trust, reliability and quality are a prerequisite to further develop BASF’s position in the relevant market segment.
This role requires an average of 25% travel, though travel may peak at 50% at times. Most travel will be in North America, but there will be approximately 2 overseas trips per year.
Formula for Success
Utilizing your formal education in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical field, you will provide technical consulting to customers including troubleshooting, in alignment with Commercial Account Manager (CAM).
Leveraging your previous technical experience in a role focused on hydrocarbon or petrochemical processing, you will provide technical proposals/quotation to the customer in consultation with Global Marketing Manager and alignment with Commercial Account Manager (CAM).
Engaging across the organization, you will drive opportunity management process internally (lead generation and qualification, solution development).
Your passion for innovation and learning will be key as you collect and document technology, customer, and competitor intelligence.
Your previous customer facing experience combined with your experience in design and/or evaluation of chemical plants, will drive you to provide market/customer driven ideas and initiate projects for incremental innovations.
Your proven experience in providing technical insights will drive you to manage product quality issues within the non-conformance management system.
