Where the Chemistry Happens
The Business Development Manager – Wall Systems – is a consummate sales professional whose influence extends across the new construction value chain, to create pull-through demand for BASF insulated wall systems. At corporate accounts, for example in the Hotel, Health Care, Quick Serve Restaurant and Retail industries, the BDM creates relationships that result in national specification of BASF systems. Utilizing detailed knowledge of Wall Systems products and systems, the BDM is a trusted advisor who influences both architectural specification and building enclosure design, so that BASF systems specified by architects maximize value for BASF, the architect, the building owner and the installation contractor. Acting as the voice of the architectural design community, the BDM actively shapes new product development within Wall Systems, and plays a key role in launching new products to the design community and to national corporate accounts. As appropriate, the BDM works with Architectural Sales Representatives and Territory Sales Managers to take select construction projects from acquisition to specification to final sales, and to facilitate new product introductions.
Formula for Success
National account specification development and design influence. Develop and maintain relationships with key national account contacts so that target BASF systems are specified.
Architectural design and specification development. Influences architects, engineers and specwriters. Create, maintain and deliver AIA-credit presentations.
Sales and ASR support on major projects.
New product development and launch. Work as part of cross-functional teams to develop new business products and opportunities. Spearhead new product launch activities.
Professional networking and training. Active involvement in professional organizations. Box lunch presentations and relationship development with A/E’s. Distributor and contractor training in coordination with Territory Sales Managers.
Wear necessary safety equipment and follow company established Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
Maintain good attendance record and report to assigned job station in a timely manner.
Follow all appropriate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies.
Notifies his/her supervisor before undertaking a work activity in which he/she is not adequately trained.\
Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes immediate interim steps to protect himself/herself and others from serious risk.
Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of BASF’s Vision and Guiding Principles. Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to appropriate manager. Responsible for the safety of themselves and others.
Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities.
