What you can expect

Join the Data Science community within BASF and shape the future of digitalization in Research and Development, the home of our supercomputer Quriosity.

  • As a Data Engineer in the group Data Science for Materials you will integrate data and build automation pipelines from laboratories performing polymer synthesis, chemical analytics, application testing, as well as quality control in production.

  • You will work in an agile team providing scientific advice and digital solutions to our partners in R&D as well as selected close customers.

  • You will collaborate with our partners in Materials R&D and Business units to understand and find solutions to their challenges.

  • In an international and interdisciplinary DevOps team you will co-develop and implement new data integration solutions.

  • Furthermore, you will lead certain knowledge areas, representing the team and ensuring continuous learning of the organization.

What we expect

  • degree in computer science or similar studies (with a PhD or comparable qualification)

  • 5 years industrial experience in data management (real-world data) as well as software development (git, CI/CD, containerization, cloud platforms like Azure, APIs)

  • advanced experience in developing data models, ETL pipelines, working with relational databases and/or NoSQL databases

  • good working knowledge of Python as applied to data science and web APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc.)

  • while being self-motivated and independent, you prefer working in a team

  • working experience with agile methods is advantageous
