The Process Research and Chemical Engineering Division brings together a variety of competencies, including inorganic chemistry, organic synthesis, battery materials research, catalysis, process development and technology, as well as technical services for laboratories/technical centers. In interdisciplinary global teams, we develop innovative products, processes and technologies for a sustainable future and work with internal partners and customers.
What you can expect
We, at Inorganic Materials & Synthesis at BASF are the experts for the targeted development of new inorganic materials, e.g. nanomaterials or catalysts. These materials are used for a wide range of applications with a focus on catalysis, electronics and renewable energies.
Specifically, you develop functional thin films of the highest quality, investigate their structure-activity relationships and derive research strategies.
You will use and further develop modern gas-phase processes for the deposition of thin films in the nanometer range.
In addition, you develop processes for the deposition of thin films from solutions and transfer them to production scale.
For the characterization of thin films, you have numerous analytical methods at your disposal, which you use routinely.
Additionally, you will supervise international research collaborations and work intensively with partners from research, marketing and production.
What we expect
above-average Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, materials science or a comparable field of study
ideally knowledge in deposition of thin films by vapor phase deposition methods (e.g. ALD, CVD) or by wet chemical processes (e.g. printing processes)
experience in the use of standard IT applications
very good communication skills in English
creativity, initiative and willingness to work together in a team to drive innovations forward
