What you can expect

Our unit Services is part of the Experimental Toxicology and Ecology department, which develops, validates and applies testing strategies to evaluate the potential toxicity and ecological impact of industrial chemicals and plant protection products. Over the past fifteen years our unit has developed a world-wide unique database which contains metabolomic and toxicological profiles of more than 1000 compounds.

  • You will lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, elucidating how metabolomics can improve the safety assessment of (agro-)chemicals.

  • Interpretation of the observed metabolome changes induced by chemicals in terms of cellular biochemical processes with the help of statistical tools will be one of your main tasks.

  • You will also be responsible for reaching the set project goals within the research budget.

  • In addition, you will promote and communicate the scientific skills and capabilities of our department Experimental Toxicology & Ecology to internal and external clients as well as at international conferences.

  • Identifying and facilitating new opportunities for the use of metabolomics in safety research will also be part of your work.

What we expect

  • Completed studies in natural sciences, preferably with a Ph.D

  • Solid understanding of biochemical processes in mammalian cells and tissues

  • Experience in working with new cellular technologies, such as omics sciences and preferably metabolomics in a toxicological or pharmacological context

  • Familiar with the common IT standard applications as well as statistical tools

  • Excellent English language skills

  • Highly target oriented, ability to succeed in a result driven environment and enjoyment of working in multicultural teams
