Where the Chemistry Happens…
The System Engineer is responsible for the device management tools for Workspace products (PCs and smartphones) in BASF.
The tools MS SCCM (Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager) for PCs and MS Intune for smartphones enable the process to manage the user’s devices.
The main responsibility is to install and configure the devices, distribute updates and security patches, as well as to keep updated the inventory information and provide license information.
The System Engineer will interact mainly with 2 BASF teams “Workspace Core” and “Workspace Application management” responsible for the OSD (Operating System Deployment, operating system and all main applications) and application management responsible for patch management, software integration and software rollouts.
Formula for Success: You Will…
Run/maintain SCCM Platform Infrastructure (450 server over the globe)
Proactive monitoring of the environment (e.g. with SCOM) to detect problems and to directly solve them (with the SCOM and SCCM console)
Keeping the environment up to date on a regular basis (coordinating hardware replacements, ordering OS updates, SCCM server installations) (with SDDC [BASF internal ordering system] and SCCM console)
Ensure high availability of SCCM clients with MS Client Health Checks and perform proactive repair of clients.(Powershell, SQL, AD Policy)
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You...
Education in IT (e.g. Bachelor/Master of Science in Computer Science) a/o long experience in complex Client/Server environments
If applicable additional qualifications about Service Management (e.g. ITIL, LeanSixSigma)
MS System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) experience 3 years
MS Intune and Azure experience optional
Experience with Windows servers and workstations
Should have operational skills and expertise in the following technologies: MDM, SCCM 2012, PowerShell, SQL, WMI, Basic Networking Concepts, Remote Tools, i.e. Remote Desktop, SMS Remote, Windows Assistant, Advanced TCP/IP functions (WINS, DNS, DHCP)
Additional qualification is desirable, e.g. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)
Must have a systems administrator level understanding of AD (Active Directoty) and SCCM.
Good English skills (spoken and written)
