We Create Chemistry

Shift Group Leader (ID: 2101654) - Monaca, PA

The primary responsibilites of this role are to supervise and coordinate operational activities across the production, supply chain, utility and maintenance areas of the Monaca site. It is expected to execute site daily operations schedule, support and participate in the site ISO 9001, PSM, RMP & RCMS programs. There is an expectation to teach and develop the team and be a "Site Safety Champion" who supports the BASF Process Safety Program (i.e. maintain an open process safety culture, Zero Incident Mindset, establish appropriate personal and operations goals, provide and complete training, report and investigate incidents).

Formula for Success

  • BS degree in engineering –OR– AS engineering technology degree 4 years’ of chemical processing technology experience –OR– High School diploma or GED 8 years’ of chemical processing technology experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and human relations skills.

  • A working knowledge of the mechanics and operation of different types of process equipment (e.g. pumps, valves, agitators, instrumentation and controls etc.).

  • An understanding and awareness of chemicals and their nature, hazards, safety and health issues, etc. Familiarity with safety practices and techniques relating to the chemical industry (e.g. LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work).

  • A working knowledge of computers including email, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts and willingness to become a member of the Emergency Response Team.

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job; which may include lifting and climbing ladders.


  • Team lead or supervisory experience.

  • Five (5) years of latex or dispersions manufacturing experience.

  • Knowledge of ISO, Process Safety Management (PSM), Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) programs.

  • Familiarity with DCS or PLC based control systems.
