The Quality Assurance Lab Technician performs a variety of raw material, in-process and finished product production quality duties including: raw material classification, in-process quality testing, final product blending, and appearance evaluation prior to final testing and product release.
The QA Lab Technician will:
Work from raw material, in-process, and final product specifications
Work with various production methods, techniques and procedures
Take analytical measurements and visual inspections
Work with a database history of files and records
Adhere to written and verbal instructions
Utilize various types of analytical equipment and devices including laboratory instruments, meters, gauges, microscopes, and glassware to complete quality testing
Utilize computer software.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Graduates of a post-secondary degree or technical program in chemistry or the sciences are preferred
Prior laboratory experience and/or chemical, refining, or manufacturing facility is preferred
Must have a strong work ethic, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks at the same time
Must possess the ability to maintain composure at all times, a strong desire to learn, the ability to work independently and efficiently, the ability to work with a diverse set of people at various levels of the organization, and a willingness to be coached
Ability to receive and act upon Supervisor’s written and/or verbal instructions
Notify Supervisor of status of work and communicate to Supervisor deficiencies in equipment and/or testing information
Maintain and update necessary records as instructed.
Use basic computer programs; learn and maintain computer skills to support BASF programs
Must be skilled in the safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and diagnostic instruments
Must comply with company policies, procedures and safety standards
Must have the ability to maintain excellent housekeeping practices throughout the workplace, communicate exceptions to supervisor and coworkers, and utilize current technology as required to perform duties
