Where the Chemistry Happens…

Development and execution of capital project improvements within operating units. Will work closely in teams consisting of Operations, Technology, Design, EHS, and Procurement personnel to ensure the safe / effective implementation of plant expansion, process debottlenecking, and infrastructure improvement projects.

This position will be responsible for the effective planning, implementation and control of assigned capital projects focusing on the effective utilization of contractor and engineering resources to bring assigned projects in on schedule and on budget. Further assist in the coordination of production, maintenance, technical, capital investment, health and safety, environment, quality assurance, will require working collaboratively with the site employees within a “High Performance Team”.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Lead in the development and implementation of site capital projects in accordance with Corporate Engineering policy and subject to the operational requirements of the site.

  • Support the TES Manager with the development and planning of the forward-looking divisional capital project portfolio including project scoping, prioritization, and budgeting.

  • Supervise the site construction coordinator to ensure that all construction activities maintain safe and productive, through the year.

  • Act as the site manufacturing representative with the Support Global Engineering Services (GES) group for major strategic projects executed at the Regina Site.

  • Participate in the basic and detailed scoping of the new and/or existing Projects. Performs detailed calculations, bid tabulation, project status and man-hour analysis and preparation of technical specifications.

  • Performs engineering project management work to include preparing budgets for CAPEX projects, overseeing project execution, recommending contract change orders, preparing progress reports, and reviewing invoices and engaging TES Manager when authorizing payments.

  • Ensure project planning, execution and commissioning follows BASF process, including design Step reviews, Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).

  • Adheres to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment / materials specifications and vendor preferences. Performs procurement activities as required, including preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing with vendors. Works with Procurement and complies with applicable guidelines.

  • Proactive in creating a zero incident mindset.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • BS Degree in Engineering from accredited institution, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Systems Engineering.

  • Registered member of APEGS with P.Eng. designation or eligible for license.

  • Demonstrated experience with Project Management and Contracting.

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience with manufacturing processes – Chemical process experience or specialization an asset.

  • Expert in the use of Microsoft Office – knowledge of SAP and CAD an Asset.

  • Knowledge of applicable Codes and Regulations e.g. – CSA, API, ASME

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and plan.

  • Demonstrated ability to respond to change and work within fluid situations.

  • Knowledge of government safety and environment regulations.

  • Ability to influence and manage without authority in a way that positively motivates colleagues in a collaborative way.
