Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Quality Control Lab Supervisor acts as Supervisor to the Lab Technicians who are responsible for supporting the production at the site. This position is responsible for timely evaluation of test data to determine status for product release and the disposition of raw materials, in process materials and finished goods. Is also responsible for the maintenance of laboratory procedures and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation. The position supports manufacturing projects and initiatives as either team leader or participant. Projects include continuous improvement process initiatives including changeovers, new equipment selection and others.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Maintain compliance with all Laboratory Safety & Environmental regulations and procedures.

  • Lead and develop laboratory employees in meeting and exceeding organizational objectives in support of a high performance team with a emphasis on lab safety culture.

  • Supervises all testing operations for the physical and chemical assessment of components, in-process materials and finished goods in a manner to ensure that these operations are reliable, accurate and timely.

  • Coordinates all site sampling and testing by collaborating with site units such as production and logistics (tank farm, receiving and shipping)

  • Coordinates the modification and adaptation of analytical methods for contamination prevention assays. Ensures cross contamination risks are mitigated through sampling and testing.

  • Ensures all laboratory instruments are performing properly by ensuring the proper maintenance and checks are performed.

  • Train QC Lab Technicians in test methods and validate Technician proficiency.

  • Ensure all laboratory records kept as per BASF Corp. policies.

  • Publish monthly reports. (FPQ, pallet inspection etc)

  • Develop, maintain and implement training matrix for QC personnel.

  • Lead/contribute investigations related to product non conformances to ensure true root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented. NCM SAP


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science with a major in Chemistry

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory and minimum 3 years of supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team

  • Lab experience must be broad based including chromatography, spectroscopy and wet chemical technique

  • In depth knowledge of analytical instrumentation and chemistry; including HPLC-MS, HPLC, GC, & IR

  • Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

  • Continual improvement programs such as Lean/Six Sigma/5S

  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices

  • Knowledge in LIMS (Laboratory Management Information System), SAP

  • Basic knowledge of statistical process control methods

  • Knowledge of Contamination Prevention practices in manufacturing of crop protection products (CropLife)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong organization skills

  • Must be available to work shift work (if required) based on production requirements and be on call for lab issues
