Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager (2100926) – Research Triangle Park, NC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to independently manage development projects and lead the development and implementation of regulatory strategies required to obtain, defend, and maintain our most complex and challenging active ingredients registrations. This senior role brings scientific, regulatory affairs, and policy-related strategic abilities to address complex regulatory issues impacting our key current and future registrations. The evolving federal regulatory issues require a breadth of knowledge and experience to address the threats to our future business as well as to our existing pesticide registrations.

In this role, you will provide regulatory expertise 1) for directing the regional regulatory strategies of an assigned portfolio of active ingredients and end-use products, plus additional business-pertinent products, 2) for advising the North American business teams on regulatory issues impacting company sales and profit, and providing expertise on alternative regulatory strategies that can benefit the business, and 3) for educating other product registration managers on the technical aspects of FIFRA regulations, strategic regulatory concepts, and internal company processes. You will maintain knowledge of and track changes in critical technical areas for the company that originate at the federal regulatory agency levels and you will represent BASF by serving in leadership roles in professional/industry associations or committees. You will also be responsible for registration review defense activities for assigned products and for training and mentoring the federal regulatory affairs group and product registration managers to continue to develop our high-performing organization.

Formula for Success

  • Demonstrating your excellent project management skills, you will lead cross-functional, technically challenging project teams that develop data supporting North American registrations of pesticide active ingredients and associated end-use products.

  • Having experience in developing regulatory strategies to obtain, maintain and defend active ingredient and product registrations with Federal and State regulatory authorities, you will lead the development and implementation of complex, multi-step strategies to achieve and defend U.S. and global registrations of crop protection products and/or pest control products.

  • Leveraging your education in the agriculture field or a related scientific discipline and your experience in the pesticide industry (specifically pesticide registration and/or regulatory affairs), you will create regulatory dossier submissions for U.S. EPA and international regulatory authorities according to global harmonized guidelines.

  • Successfully engaging within and outside the organization, you will provide regulatory support and expertise to internal technical and business managers, company customers, and sub-registrants.

  • Applying your comprehensive working knowledge of FIFRA and a proven track record for successfully registering complex pesticide active ingredients, you will train and mentor new employees and less experienced staff in EPA registration requirements and internal company processes.

  • Your effective verbal and written communication skills will serve you well as you advise North American and Global Business Units and Management on regulatory issues impacting company sales and profit and provide expertise on alternative regulatory strategies that can benefit the business.

  • Your demonstrated ability to lead and actively participate in multi-company task forces and industry trade association committees will be essential as you represent BASF on Industry Panels, Task Forces and Trade Association committees and where possible on Government Agency Committees. You will also take a leadership role in monitoring EPA activities through interactions in industry associations and regulatory associations. This intelligence gathering is essential for maintaining compliance and ensuring timely registrations.
