Where the Chemistry Happens…
We are seeking a strong candidate for a EHS (Environment, Health & Safety). This position will be located in Saskatoon , Canada and will work on basic EHS activities including site and area inspections, incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation, contractor observations, basic safety training, PPE selection, hazard assessments, ergonomic assessments, participate in capital project safety reviews, and other duties as required.
Formula for Success: You Will…
The incumbent will be working on basic EHS activities including site and area inspections, incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation, contractor observations, basic safety training, PPE selection, hazard assessments, ergonomic assessments, participate in capital project safety reviews, and other duties as required.
Recommend improvements to the site EHS Management Systems and implement changes under the supervision on the EHS Specialist.
Observe and evaluate plant operations (production and maintenance) and, where applicable, develop recommendations to safety, health and environmental issues. This may involve changes to work procedures and equipment and where further technical assistance is required, consultation with appropriate local and corporate service departments is expected.
Function as the site EHS contact in the absence of the EHS Specialist for route safety and health issues.
Provide EHS New Hire orientation training to new site employees and contractors as required.
Participate in process hazard analyses (PHA) and/or pre-start-up safety reviews (PSSR) to meet the process safety management (PSM) requirements.
Gather data, analyze and present potential path forward for safety project related work.
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
Completion of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner program
Experience in manufacturing or the Safety Profession required, but this is an asset
Willingness and ability to understand EHS product regulations in Canada and potentially in North America and/or knowledge of BASF product
Strong skills related to teamwork, interpersonal relations, customer focus, work management and results-orientation
Good team player
Creative and open minded
