Where the Chemistry Happens…

Laboratory Technician – Applications Synthesis (Coatings, Printing & Packaging) – Southfield, MI

The Laboratory Technician will be reporting to the Sr. Research Scientist. He or she will have an active role in new product development and existing product problem solving. Tasks will include:

  • Synthesizing new emulsion polymers, blends, and formulations

  • Measuring properties of these new chemicals

  • Running suitable application tests to evaluate the performance of these experiments

  • Documenting the results in a Lab Notebook and writing reports

  • Operating and maintaining the lab equipment

  • Keeping chemicals and lab supplies stocked.

  • Supporting and improving support safety program through participation and suggestions

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School or GED

  • 3 years of chemical laboratory experience

  • 1 year of experience in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Power Point, and MS Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree – Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar technical field

  • 1 year of experience with small molecule or polymer synthesis

  • Experience with writing and maintaining a laboratory notebook and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Understanding of polymer chemistry

  • Prior experience in materials research

  • Work in compliance with EH&S and ISO standards
