Project Engineer ( 2102737 ) – Sparks, GA

Where the Chemistry Happens

The BASF Sparks site located in Sparks, Georgia formulates and packages agricultural pesticides for global distribution. Project engineering is a critical role within the site as you will provide a key point for investment to ensure we stay at the leading edge of the industry.

We are seeking a professional like you who will perform project management for capital projects and provide technical engineering support for operations and maintenance. You will manage all aspects of a project, from approval through design and construction. You will be the focal point of responsibility, authority, and accountability of these capital investments. We are looking for you to be a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and function effectively at all levels of the organization.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with your plant/project engineering operations experience, you will develop project scopes, generate and/or obtain cost estimates, and prepare appropriation funding requests.

  • Your strong fundamental knowledge of Engineering and Science will be critical as you request and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site, corporate groups or outside engineering vendors.

  • Successfully engaging inside and outside the organization, you will develop and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to startup and commissioning, and then final documentation and closure.

  • Your excellent project management skills will be essential as you monitor and support construction activities to ensure that projects are completed according to the design deliverables, quality standards, and plant requirements, and that pre-startup safety reviews are conducted. You will also follow through to ensure that Operations achieves a successful project startup, and that any project-related action items are completed.

  • Your commitment to safety will be critical as you ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution. You will also ensure that appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required both before and after approval.

  • Working collaboratively, you will perform procurement support activities as required, including preparing specifications, issuing requisitions, evaluating bids, and dealing with vendors within applicable guidelines.

  • Your robust experience using SAP will be a valued asset as you maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status.

  • Using your strong analytical & mechanical aptitude and ability to collaborate effectively with other functions, you will provide engineering support to operations and maintenance as needed for process troubleshooting, reliability improvements and problem solving. These efforts may require formal team participation or leadership, but also may involve informal work groups.

  • Calling on your broad range of technical expertise, you will reference or create process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, equipment layouts, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, vendor-supplied technical information, and operating procedures.
