Fabrication Specialist – Wixom, MI (2102585)
At ProCat, a wholly owned subsidiary of BASF, we age and test catalytic converters using customer supplied test stand and vehicle procedures. Employees set up engines, dynamometers, and other equipment for engine-based catalyst aging and vehicles emission measuring equipment for EPA related chassis roll testing. As a Test Fabrication Support Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring test catalysts are modified as needed to support required testing. This includes changes to accommodate instrumentation and fit. In addition, you may have responsibilities associated with the ongoing maintenance and possible repair of various test facilities and/or equipment.
Perform arc and gas welding, light fabrication, and general metalworking
Can and de-can catalytic converters
Operate the plasma cutter and use machine tools, drill press, lathe, etc.
Instrument test samples, engines and vehicles with thermocouples and emission sample probes
Tag and identify test samples
Pickup and delivery of samples to the customer as needed
Perform site maintenance repair and routine maintenance
Perform shipping and receiving functions,
Drive the HiLo in and around the site
Perform site storage and inventory duties, including inventory system updates
Must be able to meet the physical demands required to complete the job assignments including lifting up to 30 lbs above your head and moving components in excess of 60 lbs.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years related fabrication/welding experience
Working knowledge of hand and electronic tools (drill press, plasma cutter, lathes, arc and gas welding, metal working tools)
2 Year degree or certifications in a related field desired
Work experience with engines, mechanical systems, test systems is desired
Working knowledge of PC based software and computer systems
Outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
