Electronic Security Specialist (1805136) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be a subject matter expert for the Corporate Security function’s physical access control systems, CCTV, and digital investigation capabilities used by the physical security representatives in North America. Reporting to the Security Technology Manager, you will work with BASF Corporate Security, Information Services, and site leadership to ensure the tools and software needed to address BASF’s security risk are maintained and properly administered. You will also utilize your experience with digital investigation processes and common e-discovery and forensic tools to manage investigations in accordance with BASF Legal requirements.

This role represents various degrees of complexity and necessitates a high level of organizational skill, composure, and charisma. The work material (e.g., investigations or crisis management response) can involve high-level, sensitive matters that require significant professionalism and discretion. Though the role will have independence in its daily schedule, time driven tasks will be assigned based on the needs of the Corporate Security function.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education and experience with an industrial security integrator or in a technical security role, you will troubleshoot and maintain the physical access control, CCTV video management, and serve as administrator to the applications which control these functions.

  • Demonstrating your strong understanding of computer systems and troubleshooting, you will interpret standard computer LAN topology, understand Microsoft computer software installation and updates, and possess an understanding of industrial and digital security principles related to investigations common to fraud, harassment, intellectual property theft, and other aspects of personnel misconduct involving computers and electronic systems.

  • Your robust knowledge of investigation practices, chain of custody, and storage of data will be essential as you work in cooperation with Corporate Security, IT, Compliance, HR, and Corporate Audit to reach fact-based conclusions and identify appropriate remediation efforts to prevent future incidents.

  • Your ability to work in a team environment and strong communication skills will be valued assets as you maintain a working relationship with digital security functions to provide incident response and investigation capabilities for elements of cybercrime, insider threat, and aspects of suspected criminal activity which bridge the physical and digital world. Additionally, you will maintain Corporate Security’s capability to collect and preserve electronic or digital evidence in support of Corporate Security investigations.

  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will work with the BASF IS Service Desk to address service tickets as they are prioritized and to aid in the development of the Electronic Security Systems service program.
