Quality Assurance I - Wyandotte

Where the Chemistry Happens

The employee is responsible for quality assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product streams for the Wyandotte Resin and Dispersion Plant (WYDR). This is done by conducting analytical testing on raw materials, resins, resin cuts and emulsions in support of a 24/7 ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing operation. The employee is also responsible to seek opportunities to continuously improve operational efficiency and to identify and eliminate waste. Works with minimal direct supervision working on a rotating 12.5-hour schedule, and will report to that team's Shift Supervisor. Shifts run from 6:00 to 6:00, and are preceded by a pre-shift meeting making a 12.5-hour shift. Shifts rotate from day to night over a 4-week cycle, known as the “J-Swing.”

Formula to Success

  • Minimum 2-year Associates degree in Chemistry or 2-year Technical degree in Analytical Testing in Chemistry or related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment, ISO certified preferred

  • Ability to operate various controlled instruments, in addition to a familiarity with personal computers, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Well-developed analytical methodology and an insight into problem solving.

  • Knowledge of SPC.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to record (via notebook or computer) and report pertinent data.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Must be able to achieve a passing score on a pre-placement aptitude test.

  • On occasion, must be able lift to a maximum of 49 lbs.

  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Must be able to follow all applicable safety procedures including correct personal protective equipment.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime when required.

  • Good communication skills (oral and written).

  • Experience managing the development and document control aspects of quality systems procedures and work instructions
